Understanding Number 4 and the Word Four
The number 4 represents four items. Its number word is “four”. It comes after 3 and before 5, so 3 is its predecessor and 5 is its successor.
Make the Four Corners of a Square
Use four large counters or blocks and an empty space on the table.
- Place one object at each corner of an imaginary square.
- Point to the corners in order and count “one, two, three, four”.
- Move the objects into a row and check that their quantity is still four.
Remove one object to show 3, then return it to make 4 and add another to show 5.
How to Form Number 4
