Understanding 25: Two Tens and Five Ones
The number 25 contains two tens and five ones. Show this with two rows of ten objects and a shorter row of five. The groups make it easier to see 20 plus 5 without recounting an unorganised collection.
Count to 20 using the two full rows, then count on five more: 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. Number 25 is one more than 24 and one less than 26.
Make Five Groups of Five
Gather 25 safe counting objects and make a square-like arrangement with equal rows.
- Count five objects into the first row.
- Make four more rows with five objects in each.
